Being A Good Friend For Life: Invest In Your Friendships By Letting Go
Having a good friend for life, is a blessing.
Today the word ‘friend’ is so loosely used. But this word is very valuable and meaningful when we value the people associated with it.
“True friendship comes when the silence between two people is comfortable.”
― David Tyson
Friendship is based on love. It is being free and completely accepting.
One who lets one be themselves. One who supports through their presence. One who wishes the best for the other, is a true friend.
Friendship Happens
The natural lightheartedness in a friend is attractive. Their capacity to be kind and non-judgemental is welcomed. Their smiling presence is comforting.
When talking, there is a sense of easiness. It’s easy to be around each other and jokes just happened to come out.
With a friend, one can completely be themselves.
When Friends Get In Your Way
“A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down.”
― Arnold H. Glasow
When friendship is conditioned by possessiveness and a sense of attachment, than it turns sour.
When thoughts such as:
- “She’s only my friend.”
- “I want you to spend your time only with me.”
- “She’s my friend and she will only listen to me.”
Such thoughts of ownership gets in the way of friendship. Things start going down then.
It pulls down both friends and is a very negative environment to be in. This is far from friendship.
“True friends are like diamonds — bright, beautiful, valuable, and always in style.”
― Nicole Richie
